Kyle Sandilands blasts Rove McManus live on air: ‘I hate him’

KYLE Sandilands has taken another public swipe at Rove McManus, adding fire to their long running feud.

KYLE Sandilands once again blasted Rove McManus live on his KISS FM show, announcing he “hates” his radio rival.

Bizarrely, he made the comment at a random moment during an interview with pop star Ricki-Lee Coulter.

At the time, Kyle and his co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson were grilling Ricki-Lee on rumours of a feud between she and former Young Divas bandmate Kate DeAraguo.

The 45-year-old host was greeted with silence after he suddenly exclaimed: “I hate Rove McManus ... I can’t stand the *****!”

He quickly tried to cover the awkward moment, adding: “I don’t know what that’s got to do with anything, but yeah.”

It’s just the latest in a string of public swipes Kyle’s directed at Rove, who hosts a rival breakfast show with Sam Frost on 2DayFM.

Earlier this year, Kyle lashed out at Rove and Sam on-air, explaining why he thinks their show doesn’t work.

“Where they have gone wrong with Rove is he just doesn’t translate on radio … the problem is most of his humour is in his facial expression and you don’t see it,” he said.

“They will blame that poor girl for the ratings so they will replace her.”

Following further lacklustre ratings for Rove and Sam a few months later, Kyle repeated his thoughts on their show.

“In all honesty, if you worked over at (Southern Cross) Austereo and you had those Rove McManus figures ... it’s just a joke,” Kyle said of his former network at the time.

“I just don’t understand why they’ve even got anyone advertising on their station. No one’s listening, no one cares, why bother advertising?”

The feud seemingly stems from an incident way back in 2003, when Rove insulted Kyle’s then-wife, Tamara Jaber.

Sandilands later explained his resentment: “We [Kyle and Tamara] used to go on Rove’s show and like everyone else I thought he was nice. And when Tamara brought those songs out a few years ago and the newspapers started caning her and lying, saying I was the only person playing it ... Rove jumped on the bandwagon and started to have a go.

“So when he started sinking the boot in, I started hating him and then when Rove’s wife [Belinda Emmett] passed away, he and I met up again and he said, ‘I’m sorry, I understand, I shouldn’t have gone there with the Tamara situation’.

“Then two weeks later he was an asshole to me and Tamara on his TV show ... Everyone thinks he’s cookies and cream when he’s a little pr**k ... he’s a little asshole. I let bygones be bygones because his wife passed away and I thought, ‘You came in here, you used us, you pretended that you were sorry’.”

For his part, Rove seems uninterested in fanning the flames, telling the Herald Sun in 2011: “As I keep saying to people, for there to be a rivalry it has to go two ways, and it’s just from him.”
