Jackie O reveals why she turned down offer to star on The Bachelorette

The popular radio host has revealed she was approached to be the next star of the dating show, but she turned it down despite their big cash offer.

Jackie ‘O’ Henderson has revealed she was approached to be the next star on The Bachelorette Australia — but she gave it a hard pass.

The radio host said Network 10 executives got in touch with her management team recently in an attempt to convince her to front the dating program.

Speaking on The Kyle & Jackie O Show on Wednesday morning, Henderson said the long-running program was not about finding love – it was purely for entertainment.

“It came through my manager and I said, ‘Absolutely not,’” she said of their offer, which is understood to be more than $300K, the sum her friend Sophie Monk was reportedly paid for appearing on the show in 2017.

“No way would I ever do something like that. It is great for your entertainment, but what about me.”

When pressed by co-host Kyle Sandilands to name her price, the single mum, 48, said no amount of money would get her to appear on the show.

“They asked how much would it cost. Nothing – I wouldn’t do it. I would just not do it. Not The Bachelorette,” she said. “They are just making TV in the end and you are just going to get gronks, get weirdos … I just don’t think it is for me.”

Henderson admitted she spoke to Monk about her time on the reality show, where she chose publican Stu Laundy at the end of the series. Sadly, the couple split in early 2018 after just six months of dating.

“I don’t think [Sophie] regrets it, but there was really no one right for her,” Henderson said. “They just didn’t get anyone that was compatible with her.”

In 2022, Monk went on the marry Joshua Gross, a neurosurgical robotics consultant she met on a flight.

As for Henderson, she has been single since her 15-year marriage to British photographer Lee Henderson ended in 2018.

Jackie’s revelation comes one day after she addressed a report by Woman’s Day magazine claiming she was gearing up to be the new bachelorette.

“That’s all untrue, Kyle. That’s bulls**t,” he said on yesterday’s broadcast. “No, I’m not doing that.”

However, the radio personality is currently looking for love, signing up to the dating app, Hinge.

“I’m going to do it because why not?” she told Sandilands on air earlier this month. “I can’t go out all the time. I don’t want to do that. This is just easier [to meet men]. I want to have some fun. I want to go out on a date here and there.”
