Jackie O addresses rumour she will star on The Bachelorette
Jackie O has spoken out after a tabloid magazine reported she was following in her best friend Sophie Monk’s footsteps.
Jackie ‘O’ Henderson has addressed rumours she’s set to star on the reality TV dating show, The Bachelorette.
The radio host, 48, spoke out on The Kyle & Jackie O Show this morning after Woman’s Day reported yesterday that she would appear on the new season of the show – just like her best friend, Sophie Monk, did in 2017.
“Congratulations on your new TV gig,” her co-host Kyle Sandilands said on air, to which Henderson replied, “That’s all untrue, Kyle. That’s bulls**t. No, I’m not doing that.”
Sandilands rejoiced with relief as he said his co-host and best friend was too good for the dating program, anyway.
“I wouldn’t have been happy about that,” he said. “I’ve put you up on a pedestal. You are a great woman that has achieved amazing things in your life, [you] raised a beautiful daughter – on your own, mind you. Well, a little bit of help here and there [from her father] ... And you’re an award-winning [host] and wonderful friend.”
But with the compliment came a crass comment from the shock jock.
The radio personality shocked listeners when he concluded that Henderson “finally has a decent body” and was “rootable again” after joining WW (formerly Weight Watchers).
Henderson took some time off from work late last year to focus on herself, resulting in a lifestyle overhaul and 18kg weight loss.
She recently told Stellar she now feels “fitter, healthier and mentally stronger”.
“I can’t believe how good I feel this year. I’ve had some sort of crazy breakthrough in my life. But I feel like I’ve kind of hit rock bottom to get to this point,” she told the magazine earlier this month.
In the interview, she opened up about her divorce to British photographer Lee Henderson, the father of her daughter, Kitty, now 12. The radio host recalled her split being one of the most challenging periods of her life.
“Everything about who I usually am had been taken away. Now, it’s back,” she said. “You ask anyone who’s going through that and, especially when you have children, it makes it even harder.
“The guilt you feel and everything associated with that is very difficult to get through.”
The couple were together for 18 years, 15 of which they were married. While Lee has since found love with jujitsu instructor Gabriella Motta, Jackie’s has remained single.
