‘I worry’: Kyle Sandilands’ reveals his concern with Jackie O

Kyle Sandilands has spilled on his lavish wedding and his future with long-time co-host Jackie O.

Kyle Sandilands has just finished having lunch with Channel 7, and he is in a good mood because he wasn’t just fired.

“I was thinking, am I am getting the arse here?” Sandilands admitted before explaining Seven was happy with him.

It seems odd for one of Australia’s most famous faces to be nervous about keeping a job but showbusiness is notoriously brutal and it was a big deal for Sandilands to return to television.

The shock jock ventured away from the comfort of the radio airwaves and headed to Seven’s Australian Idol reboot at the beginning of the year.

It consistently pulled in solid numbers, but it never got the eyeballs that its timeslot competition — Nine’sMarried At First Sight— managed.

Sandilands is used to winning, but he is surprisingly relaxed by the show’s performance. “Married At First Sight is a juggernaut,” he mused.

The radio host made no attempt to slag off the competition but instead is genuinely thrilled that Seven’s standing by the music show and that it wants to keep him on board.

“We are going to have a meeting in a week or two to brainstorm new ideas for the show.”

Sandilands has plenty of reasons to be happy. He just married his partner Tegan Kynaston and he is enjoying being a father to his 10-month-old son Otto.

Their wedding was a roaring success and he only has one regret.

“I should have done it sooner,” he declared.

It isn’t often that you hear Sandilands gush,but he will about his new wife Tegan.

Sandilands described their love story as a “slow burn” — the classic two best friends falling in love cliche.

The pair worked together, and to be clear, she wasn’t his personal assistant. She was an employee, turned business partner, turned girlfriend.

Kynaston, unlike Sandilands, is private. So private she hasn’t even made her Instagram account public.

Sandilands shared that she hates the “spotlight” and pointed out that she had nothing to gain from dating someone controversial.

“She’s not some chick trying to harness some old fool. The only benefit here is that we have a lovely family,” he said.

In fact, Sandilands seems downright blissed out since his lavish wedding. He stops himself from revealing exactly how much it cost but disclosed there was no budget. He said the reports it cost $1 million aren’t inaccurate.

Sandilands is also in a good mood because he is about to head off to the South of France for his Honeymoon.

“Jackie is coming as well. It has turned into a conkiti tour/honeymoon,” he said.

The co-hosts do have plans to broadcast from France but then they will enjoy a few weeks off — and all this lovely news has Sandilands seeming pretty Zen.

Sure, things still bother him, like his long-time co-host Jackie O announcing she’s dating again.

Jackie O divorced Lee Henderson in 2018 and she hasn’t been spotted with anyone since.

“It worries me. She hasn’t really dated since she was eighteen, and she is now forty something,” he said. “I’m worried she’s going to get eaten up or conned, and she’s so lovely and deserves happiness. I worry for her.”

Sandilands does seem very genuinely concerned.

“I just don’t want her to be disappointed,” he admitted.

The sweetness of that admission might make you wonder if the radio host has finally softened.

“She’s not going to be on Tinder and getting fingered in the park,” he added. So, yes, maybe slightly but he hasn’t changed too much.

Another thing that stays the same is his professional relationship with Jackie O. The two bring in the ratings for the KIIS Network and have worked together for decades.

“We just committed to each other again two weeks ago. We have a year and a half left in our current deal,” he said.

“I said I’m willing to commit to her for another ten years, and she said definitely ride or die.”
