Crappy callers: Radio DJ Ross Wallman reveals dodgy listeners

HIT 92.9 music jock Ross Wallman has revealed just how bad some callers can be when they call into his show. And the audio is not pretty.

Radio callers that didn't make it on air

A BIG part of a radio host’s job is to chat to listeners ... but some are much better than others.

Hit 92.9’s Ross Wallman has given news.com.au an insight into some of the dodgy calls he receives on the Perth radio station that are so bad they can’t be put to air.

“On a slow day I’d say I answer 20 calls, but on a really busy day with competitions I’d answer up to 100,” the 29-year-old music jock said.

“I will tell dozens and dozens of people on competition days that they haven’t won the prize, leaving a lot of people disappointed with me, which, lucky for me I’m used to.”

A fair chunk of the callers that ring in don’t make it on air, whether it be because he can’t fit them in, they have a bad phone connection or they’re blatantly drunk (as you can hear in the audio above).

“My most memorable caller is a delightful telemarketer who would listen and call everyday without fail, just to chat,” Wallman said.

And sometimes listeners call with ulterior motives.

“I have had some very lovely ladies ring in and say I should meet their daughter,” he said, “and one or two even saying I should meet their son.”

Wallman returned to Hit 92.9 in Perth at the start of the year after leaving the Sea FM breakfast show he was hosting on the Gold Coast with Paul Gale and Charli Robinson in December 2015.
