ONE the Gold Coast’s most popular breakfast radio teams is splitting, with Ross Wallman to walk away from Sea FM at the end of this week.

Co-hosts Paul Gale and Charli Robinson were only told of the move an hour before Wallman announced it on Twitter yesterday.

It is understood the decision to leave was Wallman’s and he is looking forward to returning home to family in Perth.

The trio were awarded the Best on Air Team gong at the Australian Commercial radio Awards earlier this year.

Wallman’s departure comes just a year after he replaced Matt Acton.

“Time to take a break and reset for me,” Wallman told the Gold Coast Bulletin.

“It’s been the most amazing year and without a doubt the best working year of my 10 years in radio.

“Very sad to leave my team but I will be lifelong friends with the entire SEA team and will miss mostly Char Char, who I consider to be my incredibly good looking sister, and my significantly older brother Galey.

“No (new) gig to announce yet — family time and a few lychee martinis for now.”

Robinson said she and Gale were sad to see Wallman go but wished him all the best.

“I know this is radio and we all come and go so often but it’s hard when you’ve made such a good friend,” she said.

Sea FM content director Andrew Very said Wallman had made an excellent impression on his team, clients and fans during his time at the station.

“Ross’ positive energy, passion and commitment for his role has set a refreshing benchmark in the culture of Southern Cross Austereo Gold Coast and he will be missed,” Mr Very said.

“Ross will wrap up his on-air duties on the final breakfast show of the year this Friday.”
