Pete Davidson gave fans a look into his tattoo removal process in a surprise guest appearance on Saturday Night Live.
During the sketch, Davidson wore a short-sleeved graphic T-shirt that revealed the comedian’s nearly complete removal process of his forearm tattoo sleeves.
While some designs still remain and others were faded but not totally removed, it was a big change from his once totally covered look.
In addition to his bare arms, Davidson, 30, also surprised fans with a buzzcut hairstyle.
The “King of Staten Island” star made a cameo over the weekend in a sketch alongside his pal and host John Mulaney, as well as former co-stars, Keenan Thompson, Bowen Yang, Ego Nwodim and Andrew Dismukes.
In the sketch, Davidson and Dismukes played two men who bought odd items at the Duane Reade convenience store inside the New York Port Authority bus terminal.
The cast went on to poke fun at Davidson’s requests in a variety of musical numbers.
Davidson has slowly been easing his way back into the spotlight and was last seen enjoying a night out in Los Angeles with his buddy, MGK, formerly known as Machine Gun Kelly.
The two posed for a few photos together, and the pictures also showed how Davidson’s left arm was nearly bare with just a few faded tattoos on his right arm.
Davidson began removing his tattoos three years ago. In a 2021 interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Davidson explained that he was prioritising acting roles, so he often found himself sitting in the makeup set for “three hours” to get them covered up.
“For some reason, people in movies, they don’t have them that much,” he joked at the time.
The comedian confessed that the process –– which typically spans several lengthy sessions of painful laser blasts –– is difficult.
“Burning them off is worse than getting them, because not only are they burning off your skin, but you’re wearing these big goggles, right? So you can’t see anything, and the doctor’s in there with you,” Davidson shared at the time.
Davidson was previously known for getting tattoos on a whim or dedicated to his girlfriend at the time. He previously got ink for exes Cazzie David, Ariana Grande and Kim Kardashian, among others.
He also had quite the variety of other interesting designs –– including portraits of both the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Hillary Clinton.
