Nicole Kidman brings $100m Liane Moriarty miniseries Nine Perfect Strangers to NSW
Nicole Kidman is “thrilled” after getting the green light to shoot a $100 million blockbuster in NSW with some huge Hollywood stars.
Nicole Kidman has said she’s “thrilled” to film a $100 million blockbuster production Down Under, with the miniseries set to revive the coronavirus crippled-industry and bring hundreds of jobs to NSW.
Kidman – who will also star in the limited series adaptation of Sydney author Liane Moriarty’s bestseller Nine Perfect Strangers – was given the green light from the NSW and Federal Governments to bring in international and interstate cast and crew.
“I am thrilled we are able to make Nine Perfect Strangers in Australia,” the Oscar-winning actor told The Sunday Telegraph.
“It is a great opportunity for me to give back to the community that nurtured me through so much of my career.”

According to The Telegraph, police will supervise an isolated production hub at Kidman’s Southern Highlands property to enable pre-production to proceed as the team quarantines.
All cast and crew members will serve the mandatory 14-day quarantine under government guidelines in a fully-contained facility, with Kidman and her co-producers to pay all medical and security costs.
The production will also house cast and crew in a hotel during filming under strict health guidelines.
Filming of the much-anticipated series will start on August 10 and run for 19 weeks, and will be produced in Byron Bay by Kidman’s Blossom Films and Bruna Papandrea’s Made Up Stories, in conjunction with Endeavor Content and US streaming company Hulu.

Melissa McCarthy, Luke Evans, and Australians Asher Keddie and Samara Weaving have also signed on to star in the series, which will reunite Kidman with Moriarty and Hollywood screenwriter David E Kelley – who she collaborated with on Big Little Lies.
Moriarty’s book, which spent 13 weeks at the top of the New York Times bestseller list, tells the story of “nine stressed city dwellers” staying at a boutique health-and-wellness resort.
Promised health and restoration, “these nine perfect strangers have no idea what is about to hit them”.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the production would support more than 250 full-time and around 1300 casual jobs, reviving the industry after COVID-19 pandemic crippled it earlier this year.
“Australia is in the box seat to attract productions to our shores and we are privileged that one of the first is Nine Perfect Strangers with our Nicole Kidman,” the PM said.
“Not only is Ms Kidman an acclaimed, Oscar-winning actor and producer, but she is an outstanding ambassador for our nation.”
NSW Treasurer Dom Perrottet told The Telegraph our economy could “do with a touch of Tinseltown right now”.
“This production will create hundreds of jobs as well as supporting our hard-hit hospitality industry,” he said.
“You couldn’t write a better script than that.
“This will showcase the best of NSW on the global stage.
“It’s showtime for new jobs and new investment in NSW.”
