“I am actually going to take off,” Langdon told co-host Karl Stefanovic as she rose from her seat midway through this morning’s episode.

Today co-host Allison Langdon abruptly left the show mid-episode on Monday morning, after complaining of feeling unwell.

Shortly after the 7:30am news bulletin, Langdon turned to co-host Karl Stefanovic and announced that she was going home sick.

“I am actually going to take off this morning. I have just got a little bit wobbly,” she said, explaining that she had started to feel unwell but didn’t want to leave her co-host “in the lurch”.

“I didn’t notice, because you are wobbly a lot on a Monday morning,” Stefanovic joked.

“I would have stayed home, but it didn’t sort of hit until I got to work. Best for everybody, and have a great show,” she said, rising from her seat with her phone in hand.

Langdon said she’d be watching from home and “sending notes”.

“Whatever she has got, I hope I don’t get,” said Stefanovic.

As weather presenter Tim Davies joked that they needed to “crack out the Glen 20,” Langdon called back that she had “done a RAT” to test for Covid.

Entertainment reporter Brooke Boney then filled in for Langdon for the rest of the show, joining Stefanovic on the desk.

It’s the second time in a few months that Langdon has suddenly exited Today due to ill health. Back in June, she disappeared during a commercial break, with Stefanovic explaining she had gone home sick due to a “frog in her throat”.

“Now, Ally has unfortunately had to go home. She’s got a very sizeable frog in her throat. She’ll be back on deck tomorrow. In the meantime it’s an empty seat,” he said.

And earlier this year, sickness plagued the hosts of Today’s rival breakfast program, Seven’s Sunrise.

David Koch left the Sunrise broadcast three hours early due to a health issue on May 3, with co-host Natalie Barr telling viewers was suffering with a bout of laryngitis.

Both Barr and Koch fell ill at the same time back in March, leaving Sunrise without both its usual hosts for a week as Barr battled a severe cold and Koch tested positive to Covid-19.
