Sex scene that caused major problem in Game of Thrones pilot

The only scene that wasn’t cut from Game of Thrones’ original pilot was a raunchy one – but it caused a bit of a headache for producers.

Game of Thrones: The Best Scenes EVER

Game of Thrones’ pilot episode was branded a disaster by show bosses, leading to almost every scene being cut.

The unseen debut forced the production team to go back to the drawing board, recasting roles and reshooting scenes in line with feedback, reports The Sun.

However, one aspect of the show that got the green light from the very beginning was the penchant for sex.

Fans will know that the show didn’t hold back when it came to its romps, with nudity and dirty talk featured heavily in the many brothels of Westeros.

Ros (Esme Bianco) was the most prominent prostitute at the show’s inception and befriended Tyrion, only to be brutally murdered with a crossbow by his nephew Joffrey.

However, Bianco revealed that her first scene with Tyrion – in which he hid in a brothel while his furious relatives searched for him – was the only one to survive the pilot.

Ros and Tyrion’s scene showed the youngest Lannister with straight blond hair.

“I was originally just called ‘the red-headed whore’,” she told fans at the second annual Con of Thrones spotlight panel.

“I didn’t have a name at that point. And I was only meant to do this one scene with (Tyrion).

“They reshot almost the entire pilot with the exception of my scene with Peter (Dinklage).”

A Song of Ice & Fire author George RR Martin decided to give the sex worker a name as she took on a more substantial role than initially intended.

However, Ros and Tyrion’s first scene brought about a separate set of problems when it came to the wardrobe department.

In the scene, Tyrion’s hair is straight and platinum blond in keeping with the books.

The novel describes his hair as “so blond it seems white”, so showrunners David Benioff and Dan “DB” Weiss put Dinklage in a wig.

However, this was subsequently switched out for his natural hair with highlights, leading to a rather dramatic transformation to curly, caramel-coloured tresses.

The continuity error was never addressed, but let’s face it, nothing gets past eagle-eyed fans.
