So what does it all mean?
Book readers will no doubt be looking forward to some Sand Snake action, although early indications are that one fan favourite, Darkstar, won’t be making an appearance in the southern plotline.
Meanwhile, Arya looks set to continue her voyage of transformation from cold-blooded killer girl to cold-blooded killer teenager and Tyrion’s (eventual) introduction to Dany seems like it will happen sooner rather than later.
Details of what’s coming in the fifth season of HBO’s wildly popular show have been trickling out for months. In February, HBO released a one-and-a-half-minute blooper real showing the lighter side of life in Westeros.
In October, onset footage released by a Spanish publication revealed another major spoiler, with Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) depicted in an unexpected location: Dorne, home of the Red Viper.
As the show continues to diverge from the books — cutting some plot lines and characters, condensing others, and adding new material — fans of both can expect some big surprises.
Alfie Allen, who plays Theon Greyjoy, let slip that some characters who were in completely different parts of the world will cross paths for the first time.
And for those still in shock from the Red Wedding, Emilia Clarke has some bad (or good) news for you: season five will have a bunch more of those moments.
“You know how you can watch the YouTube reactions to the crazy stuff we do? There’s gonna be a bunch of those this season,” she told Access Hollywood. “Like, a couple.”
Game of Thrones returns to Foxtel on April 12.
