Games of Thrones’ Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) to guest star in Doctor Who
MAISIE Williams, who plays feisty Arya Stark on Game of Thrones, has landed a new role — and it’s got science fiction fans very excited indeed.
MAISIE Williams, who plays feisty Arya Stark on Game of Thrones, will guest star in the next season of Doctor Who.
The baby-faced Williams, who turns 18 in mid-April, will appear in season nine of the BBC sci-fi drama starring Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman.
The BBC quoted the show’s executive producer Steven Moffatt, who said he was “thrilled” to have Williams appear on the show.
“It’s not possible to say too much about who or what she’s playing, but she is going to challenge the Doctor in very unexpected ways,” he said.
“This time he might just be out of his depth, and we know Maisie is going to give him exactly the right sort of hell.”
Williams told the BBC she was excited about the new role.
“I can’t wait to meet the cast and crew and start filming, especially as we’ll be shooting not too far from my home town,” she said.
Ten years since it was resurrected by the BBC, Doctor Who continues to be a ratings success for the BBC, and a vehicle for many high-profile guest appearances. The past few seasons have included star spots from Timothy Dalton, David Walliams, Diana Rigg (herself a Game of Thrones regular) and Bill Nighy, among many others.
Fans were unbridled in their enthusiasm for the idea of Arya joining the TARDIS crew.
Loving the announcement that @Maisie_Williams will be in Doctor Who! I'd love her to be the new assistant but that means Arya would die...

I'm 100% okay with Arya Stark guest starring (OR STARRING FOREVER) on Doctor Who next season.
