THE five main stars of Game of Thrones are laughing all the way to the bank thanks to a new pay rise.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, those who have negotiated a salary boost are Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), Kit Harington (Jon Snow), Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister), Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister).

Each of those stars will pocket more than $A671,000 per episode in season seven and season eight, which is tipped to be the show’s final season.

Despite the pay rise though, there’s no guarantee that those actors’ characters will survive until the end of the show.

As THR reported in 2014, Game of Thrones actors are placed in different tiers and are paid accordingly.

The “A” tier features the five stars above whereas the “B” tier features stars such as Natalie Dormer (Margaery Tyrell), Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) and Maisie Williams (Arya Stark).

There’s also a “C” tier.

Back in 2014 it was revealed that the “A” tier were each being paid $A402,000 per episode in season five.

The sixth season of Game of Thrones is currently airing each Monday at 11am on Foxtel’s Showcase channel.
