Game of Thrones cast set to earn record salaries for the show’s final season

WHEN you’re part of the biggest show on air, it’s safe to say your salary will mirror that but that doesn’t mean these figures won’t shock you.

NO SHOW on air can hold a candle to Game of Thrones right now.

The production value and devoted audience sets the fantasy drama leagues above anything else and now, the show is forging another record for itself — specifically how much they’re going to pay their cast.

The show’s ‘Big Five’ are about to be rewarded generously for making Game of Thrones the biggest show on television by reportedly making more than A$3 million an episode after the program airs internationally.

According to The Daily Express, Peter Dinklage, Kit Harington, Emilia Clarke, Lena Headey and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau have signed “golden contracts” for the show’s final two seasons.

Their huge pay day is largely due to the bonuses they’re set to receive for the show’s international syndication.

In 2015, HBO announced the fifth season of Game of Thrones would be released simultaneously in more than 170 countries around the globe.

Game of Thrones broke the record for budget per episode for its sixth season when, according to Entertainment Weekly, they spent more than US$10 million each episode—excluding the huge cast salaries.

The show is especially big in the US which averaged more than 20 million viewers per episode for its sixth season.

Media analyst Mike Raia toldThe Daily Express: “Cable network HBO is breaking the bank to ensure its most successful scripted program ever goes out with the kind of flourish fans all over the world have come to expect.”
The show’s ‘Big Five’ will also become the highest paid TV stars in history after the cast of Friends and The Big Bang Theory were paid a little over US$1 million an episode.

Game of Thrones season seven will premiere on Foxtel in Australia on July 16.

The fact that the show is only broadcast on pay TV cemented its place as the most pirated TV series in Hollywood history. In 2015, Game of Thrones had been illegally downloaded more than seven million times.
