Isla Fisher’s surprising Home And Away confession
Isla Fisher has made a surprising admission about Home And Away, some 24 years after she stopped playing Shannon in the soap.
In the 24 years since she left Home And Away, Isla Fisher has carved out a successful career both here and in Hollywood – but the star confesses she’s thought about making a return to the soap that made her famous.
Fisher, 45, played schoolgirl Shannon for 345 episodes of Home And Away from 1994 to 1997. Her Hollywood career exploded after she left, scoring roles in films like Wedding Crashers and Confessions of a Shopaholic.
Now, the mum-of-three – who wed comedian Sacha Baron Cohen in 2010 – admits she’s toyed with the idea of returning to Summer Bay.
“Of course I’ve thought about it!” she told Yahoo! Lifestyle in a new interview.
“I‘ve thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be hilarious?’ But then the reality of it is, obviously, you have to give lots of notice and then it gets written in and then you have to commit.
“But obviously it would be fun just to sort of like, walk by with a surfboard or something at some point.”
It might be hard for Fisher to return to the soap anytime soon, given she and Baron Cohen reportedly fled Sydney, where the show is filmed, for locked-up Western Australia back in September.
Less than a year after moving from LA to Bondi, the couple and their three children reportedly made the move west to Perth, where they will now live.
Their decision to set up a permanent home on Australia’s West Coast was reportedly fuelled by a desire to “escape” Sydney’s then-lockdown, The Age reported at the time.
And soon after that news broke, Fisher was spied at a cafe in Inglewood, Perth, where she was trying to keep a low profile – even giving the barista the fake name of ‘Simone’ for her order.
Fisher, 45, was born in Oman but grew up in Perth from the age of six before moving to Sydney to star in Home And Away.
She spoke of her connection to Australia in an interview with Stellar in March.

“I just feel so safe. I suppose the word is cosy, when I’m in Australia. It’s where I grew up,” she explained.
“I’m the happiest when I’m home. I miss it when I’m not here. I don’t feel any pressure when I’m in Australia. I don’t have to say or do or be anything. I mean, I don’t even have to wear shoes.”
Meanwhile, in other Home And Away news, it’s been reported that actress Sam Frost has quit the soap, months after courting controversy for publicly revealing her stance against Covid vaccinations.
