Australian actress Isla Fisher has been caught using a fake name in a bid to go incognito.

The 45-year-old Wedding Crashers star, who is currently based in Sydney, has been spending time in her home town of Perth with husband Sacha Baron Cohen and their three children.

She stopped by a cafe in Inglewood, an inner-city suburb, on the weekend where the barista who took her order revealed she went by a different name.

The employee wrote into local radio show Triple M Breakfast with Basil, Xav & Jenna, revealing she immediately recognised Fisher.

“I’m working as a barista and believe it or not, Isla Fisher arrived,” one of the radio host’s reading out the text said on-air. “Working in a cafe in Inglewood, I took the order, a flat white with oat milk.

“And when asked for the name please, she handed out, Simone. It knocked me down. (I thought) ‘that’s Isla Fisher using a fake name’.”

Fisher, her comedian husband and their brood relocated to Australia from Los Angeles last year, with reports suggesting they wanted to distance themselves from former US president Donald Trump’s reign.

“I just feel so safe. I suppose the word is cosy, when I’m in Australia. It’s where I grew up,” Fisher told Stellar in March.

“I’m the happiest when I’m home. I miss it when I’m not here. I don’t feel any pressure when I’m in Australia. I don’t have to say or do or be anything. I mean, I don’t even have to wear shoes.”

Fisher’s first big role on Australian TV was as Shannon Reed on Home And Away from 1994 to 1997, before she relocated to the US in 2002 to further her career.
