Channel Ten star Grant Denyer released from hospital after his horror rally crash
TV presenter Grant Denyer is out of hospital after his high-speed rally crash but he still has a significant recovery ahead of him.
GRANT Denyer has left hospital after surviving a horror 160kmh/h rally crash.
The Channel Ten star was released from hospital on Friday afternoon after crashing during the Lake Mountain Sprint, part of the Australian Rally Championships, on Sunday.
The Family Feud host was airlifted from the scene of the crash outside of Melbourne after hitting a tree at high speed.
Denyer’s wife Cheryl also posted a photo on Instagram of the couple holding hands.
His co-driver Dale Moscatt had to be freed from the wreckage of their Lotus.
Incredible dashcam footage later emerged of Denyer’s dice with death.
The crash led to a civil was between competing motor sport bodies in Australia.
Denyer said he feared the worst when the car slid off the road.
“Everything slowed down and I kind of had a couple of choices,” he said.
“The car was heading directly for the biggest tree I’d ever seen and I had to do everything that I could not to hit that head on because had I done that, it would have been a very different story.”
“I just got to the right of it and hit the huge tree root which launched the car into the air and then into the tree, then it spun around and destroyed the car and came to rest.”
The accident came on the same day Denyer was confirmed as a Gold Logie nominee and the support from fans since “took a little bit of the pain away.”
Denyer hasn’t confirmed when he will return to work at Channel Ten.
