Adam Boland resigns from Seven
THE highly regarded Seven Network television producer has announced his plan to leave the network he has called "family" for the last 14 years.
HIGHLY regarded Seven Network television producer, Adam Boland has taken to his beloved social media platform, Facebook, to reveal his plan to leave the network he has called "family" for the last 14 years.
It is hardly surprising he would use the social media dais, considering Boland has been managing the network’s social media strategy while executive producing Weekend Sunrise, hosted by Sam Armytage and Andrew O’Keefe.
Having moulded the very successful morning franchises - Sunrise, Weekend Sunrise and The Morning Show - Boland was just 27 when he was given the job to shake up daylight TV, starting with breakfast television.
"Big life decision today. After almost 14 years, I have told Seven I won't be renewing beyond February," he wrote on his Facebook page today. "It's time to leave home. Gulp."
It was Sunrise's victory over The Today Show in 2004 that prompted the network to persist with Boland's fresh, pacey and relevant approach to live television. The news and lifestyle formula has stood the morning shows on good ratings stead ever since.
Touted as a television "boy wonder", “wunderkind”, “creative genius” and a host of positive titles, Boland went on to create The Morning Show in 2007, fronted by Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies.
While industry insiders say Nine made an attempt to poach Boland and that he was also contemplating a move to Ten with former Seven executive James Warburton, Boland was on the cusp of getting a bath-house up and running when that mammoth project was put on hold.
At Sunrise, hosted by Melissa Doyle and David Koch, Boland was succeeded by executive producer, Michael Pell while Sarah Stinson took over The Morning Show in 2010.
Friends and work buddies on Boland’s Facebook page have been supportive of his career decision. As for his future plans?
Looks like lunch today at a favoured eatery with a great pal, and a big holiday are the most pressing things on his dance card.
