Abbie Chatfield has revealed the surprising role that really brings in the money.

Chatfield, who appeared on The Bachelor and I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! said social media was more lucrative than traditional media.

The Queensland TV personality and FBoy Island Australia host told her TikTok followers that hosting is a “lot of money” but “not as much as you think”.

“It’s a lot of f***ing money, particularly for a chookie from Brisbane … (I) didn’t grow up with money. It’s so much money.”

However, Chatfield described the hectic days that go into hosting a TV show, explaining that even press days can go from 5am until 7pm.

“Even if filming is three weeks, there’s still pre-production and post-production … and you’re doing things along the way,” she said.

“You have obviously the hectic period before the weeks leading up to it with fittings and talking about casting and talking about dates and having calls with producers and whatever, then filming is crazy … really long days, insane days.

“Hosting is more than being a contestant even on celebrity shows like ‘I’m a celebrity’, but it’s not crazy money considering what you can get for social media.”

Chatfield even revealed she turned down a spot on a TV show because she could make more money from a single social media post.

“The amount of money they offered me for a year would’ve been one post a month for me,” she said.

The TV personality added she made more money from social media than she did from her base rate and daily wages on ‘I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of here!’.

Despite this, Chatfield said her role on FBoy island is her “dream job”, with live touring and her podcast following close behind.

“I love doing all those jobs so much. If I lost any of them, I’d be so upset,” she said.

Chatfield has had a bustling career since her time as a contestant on The Bachelor, having worked as a panellist on The Masked Singer too.

Her busy schedule has seen her also turn down a number of lucrative jobs in the past, including a book deal and hosting R&B show Fridayz Live.

Chatfield also quit her national radio show Hot Nights With Abbie Chatfield last year, with the TV personality explaining she needed to shift her priorities after a burnout break last year.

“I’ve realised that my priorities need to shift, as I’ve taken on so many jobs and I’m trying to figure out what I do and don’t want to do. And I’m trying not to push myself to work way harder than I need to,” she said on her podcast.

“Mentally I think I have a genuine addiction to work … I feel like my only value comes from work.”
