Veronicas star Jess releases emotional statement seemingly calling out twin sister Lisa

VERONICAS singer Jess has seemingly called out her twin sister Lisa in an emotional public statement after girlfriend Ruby Rose’s earlier furious social media attack.

VERONICAS singer Jess Origliasso has released an emotional statement about her “12 years” of “deep pain” caused by someone close to her, after girlfriend Ruby Rose publicly called out Jess’ twin sister Lisa yesterday.

Rose shocked fans with a since-deleted tweet posted in the wake of Australia’s historic same-sex marriage survey result this week, claiming her girlfriend’s twin sister had told them they “should feel ‘lucky’ we don’t get stoned to death like they do in other countries and to get over it a few months ago”. After deleting the tweet, Rose followed up by saying she “shouldn’t stoop to her level” and to “not let the people below try to drag me down”.

One day on, and Rose’s girlfriend Jess has released a statement of her own — one that appears to call out her own twin sister and musical partner.

“With the current conversation that was happening in the lead up and outcome of the marriage equality results this week, I feel it is necessary to share some feelings.

“I may not have struggled with an inner turmoil, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t struggled with people close to me, degrading my sexuality because of their own personal judgments or ignorance,” Jess writes.

“People can publicly support the LGBT community, but behind closed doors inflict deep pain because of their own inability to accept or understand you as a part of that community.

“That can be a particularly difficult and heartbreaking experience. But one that has been a private and real struggle in my life.

“For anyone struggling in silence, please know that you are not alone. And no matter what, you are free to be whoever you choose to be without question, or have your sexual preference reduced to fit anyone else’s expectations, or their ‘reality’ of you.

“We all do our best, and we all learn to open our minds and hearts. To do better and be better. I wish that for everyone. I would never wish to hurt anyone who has needed education and self reflection in this area, but I also cannot defend the behaviour, or minimise the pain I have felt over 12 years.

“Wishing only love to be our path to understanding moving forward.”

The Veronicas have been outspoken advocates for the LGBT community, and their most recent music video, for the hit On Your Side, depicted Rose and Jess as a couple.

There have been recent hints of bad blood between the singing sisters — Lisa was quick to distance herself from her sister after Jessica publicly criticised the ARIA Awards for not nominating their video for On Your Side. When news.com.au reported that story as “Veronicas not happy”, Lisa jumped in: “Jessica Veronica. Not The Veronicas”.

Neither of the twins follows the other on Twitter or Instagram. The sisters made a joint statement on The Veronicas’ official Facebook page this week, explaining that despite earlier promising they’d release a new album in 2017, “due to personal circumstances out of our control, we have made the decision to hold releases till 2018.”
