It costs to be a Swiftie … Ticket prices for Taylor Swift’s upcoming Australian concerts have been released, and it’s going to hurt the wallet.

Astonishing Ticket Prices for Taylor Swift's Eras Tour in Australia

Taylor Swift ignited pandemonium among her Australian fans when she announced yesterday she was bringing her blockbuster ‘Eras’ tour down under next year.

But unless diehard ‘Swifties’ are content sitting in the nosebleed section when she hits the stage in Sydney and Melbourne come February – with the cheapest available ticket coming in at $79.99 – attending the show is going to cost a pretty penny.

Ahead of the first early bird sale on June 26, Ticketek has listed prices for all available seating options, with the premium VIP packages reaching an eye-watering $1249.90.

But it’s what’s included in that sum that has fans “screaming”, with the top-tier offering, ‘It’s Been A Long Time Coming’, comprising of the best available A Reserve Floor Ticket, four Taylor Swift prints, an Eras tote bag, a collectable pin, sticker and postcard set and a VIP laminate and lanyard.

There are another five premium package offerings all included with the aforementioned merchandise, they are: ‘Karma Is My Boyfriend’ ($899.90) which comes with an A Reserve Floor ticket; ‘I Remember It All Too Well’ ($749.90) which offers an A Reserve Ticket in the Lower Level; ‘Ready For It’ ($599.90) which has a B Reserve ticket; ‘It’s A Love Story’ ($399.90) with a D Reserve ticket and finally, ‘We Never Go Out Of Style’ ($349.90) with an E reserve ticket.

A VIP package would often include a pre-show reception with food and drinks, as well as a dedicated bar, which Coldplay has included as part of its top-tier ticket offering for the band’s two Perth shows in November. The British rock band is charging $1279.20 for its premium package, which also includes a backstage tour and a photo onstage.

Given Swift’s somewhat lacklustre VIP pack, it’s safe to say certain followers are a little miffed:

There were, however, a legion of fans unfazed by the cost:

Outside of the VIP offerings, tickets alone top at $379.90 for A Reserve, $309.90 for B Reserve, $239.90 for C Reserve, $199.90 for D Reserve, $159.90 for E Reserve, $119.90 for F Reserve and $79.90 for G Reserve.

Swift is set to play two shows at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on February 16 and 17 2024, before moving to Sydney’s Accor Stadium for a three-show run on the 23rd, 24th, and finishing up on the 25th.

The earliest ticket sale will be in the American Express VIP Package pre-sale, which begins next Monday, June 26, with Sydney tickets going on sale at 10am, and Melbourne tickets at 2pm.

The second pre-sale is via Frontier Touring (you have to be a member) on June 28, at 10am for Sydney and 2pm for Melbourne.

Lastly is the general public sale on June 30 via Ticketek’s app, again, at 10am for the Sydney shows and 2pm for Melbourne.

With demand expected to far outweigh supply, particularly given Swift is only playing shows in two Aussie cities, Ticketek shared tips on how fans can give themselves their best shot at securing entry.

“Double check your Ticketek account and payment details are up to date. Have your login details handy as you’ll need them to complete your purchase,” Ticketek began in a statement.

“Gather your fellow fans and plan your purchase by agreeing on the performance date, ticket price category and any packages you want to purchase.”

As far as the day of the sale, Ticketek advises visiting the page “at least 15 minutes prior to tickets going on sale”.

“Follow the designated link for your desired city to be taken to the Ticketek Lounge.

“Please don’t leave the Lounge page or refresh your browser. The page will refresh itself frequently to let more fans through to purchase. Once you’re in the Lounge, sit tight and wait to be let through to the event page.

“Once you’re through, keep an eye on the timer and complete your purchase within the time frame.”

Swift’s ‘Eras’ tour, on track to become the highest-grossing music tour of all time, encompasses her vast body of work over the past 17 years, and is split into 10, non-chronological ‘eras’ for each of her albums.

The more than three-hour long show kicks off with Lover (she performs six songs from this album), before moving onto Fearless (three songs), evermore (five songs), reputation (four songs), Speak Now (one song), Red (four songs, including the 10 minute version of All Too Well), folklore (seven songs), 1989 (five songs), Taylor Swift (one song) and wrapping with seven songs from her most recent album, Midnights.
