Taylor Swift arrives in Melbourne ahead of first Australian stop for Eras Tour

The pop superstar stepped onto Australian soil shortly before 1am ahead of her much-anticipated Eras Tour concert.

Pop superstar Taylor Swift has touched down at Melbourne airport in her private jet ahead of her first Australian concert.

The 13-time Grammy winner landed at Tullamarine Airport about 12.49am on Thursday after an 11-hour journey from Honolulu on her Bombardier Global Express twin-jet plane.

Eager fans gave up sleep to wait at the airport in the hopes of being the first to see the superstar on Australian soil.

Images from the airport show fans crowding the terminal wrapped in blankets and their comfiest outfits at midnight hoping to catch a glimpse of the singer, who has not been in Australia since her Reputation Tour in October 2018.

The silver set landed on the runway shortly before 1am to a round of applause from fans, before Swift was whisked into a waiting car and into the airport’s private terminal.

Officers from the Australian Federal Police guarded the area and the three exits, ensuring the singer’s safety as fans tracked the movements of the jet.

Swift will have two days to jump back into rehearsals before her first concert at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Friday night.

She will perform her three-and-a-half-hour long setlist for about 86,000 fans each night on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, before flying to Sydney for another four-night run from February 23 to 26.

About 2000 people were watching as her jet took off from the Hawaiian airport using the Flightradar24 website.

It’s been a busy week already for the superstar, who left Tokyo’s Haneda Airport headed for Los Angeles’ LAX airport over the weekend.

After spending just a few days in the US, making the trek across the globe to watch her boyfriend Travis Kelce as he won the Super Bowl, she was already off heading to Australia.

It’s still no known if Kelce will return the favour and support his girlfriend on the Australian leg of of her tour.

Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers in overtime, claiming back-to-back titles, while Swift and her star-studded crew watched from the stands.
