Huge UK pop star spotted DJing in Sydney

An iconic pop star was pictured having a whale of a time behind the decks at a sold-out boat party after making a low-key arrival Down Under.

Melanie “Mel C” Chisholm has hit the ground running on her first tour Down Under as a DJ, performing a high-energy set in front of a sold-out crowd at a Sydney boat party.

The former Spice Girl clearly got the atmosphere pumping on the Seadeck on Sydney Harbour on Friday night, showing off her new skills after decades as a successful music artist.

The British star, 49, is next performing sets at the Palooza Festival in Melbourne and the Handpicked Festival in Adelaide on Saturday, followed by appearances in Brisbane and Darwin.

Mel C’s tour will wrap up next weekend with two festival sets back in Sydney.

Sporty Spice’s first gig came just hours after a very on-brand sighting at a cryotherapy centre in Freshwater, on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.

“So awesome having the multi-talented superstar Melanie C @melaniecmusic (aka Sporty Spice from the @spicegirls) visit the Northern Beaches today for some well-deserved recovery, jet-lag cure and rejuvenation during her Australian tour!” Cryo Northern Beaches posted on their Instagram account on Thursday evening, alongside a photo of the super-fit 49-year-old looking fresh-faced and relaxed.

“We love you heaps Mel.”

The singer and DJ’s Aussie tour comes after she admitted in a 2019 interview with news.com.au that the Spice Girls were unlikely to return to our shores as a group.

“Spice Girls is incredible, but we are a NIGHTMARE. It is so, so difficult to get this thing to happen,” she said, off the back of the band’s hugely successful four-piece UK and Ireland reunion tour.

“It really is so explosive that it only happens in very short bursts.

“I hope it happens again. It may, it may not.”
