Swifties travelling to Melbourne ahead of the first night of the Eras Tour were treated to a little pre-party sing-a-long led by a Qantas cabin crew member.

During a from Perth to Melbourne flight attendant, Paul Pillati, encouraged the swarm of Taylor Swift fans onboard to join in singing the bridge of the megastar’s hit song Cruel Summer.

In a clip, which was filmed by his daughter, Caitlin Pilatti, Mr Pillati can be seen walking up and down the aisles calling on all Swifties to join in.

“We’re going to sing along to Cruel Summer,” he says in the video, shared on TikTok by his daughter.

“Cruel Summer, Cruel Summer. You know it? You know it?”

Once all the passengers were primed and ready to go, Mr Pillati counts them in before the plane broke out in song.

He enthusiastically conducts the passengers while also being their hype man and dancing in the aisles.

But when they finish their harmonies and belting out the pop hit, Mr Pillati stirs the pot even more.

“That was good, that was good but this forward section is going to out do you I think,” he says before walking towards the front of the plane.

The video has had more than 15,000 views since it was posted on Thursday, with Ms Pilatti explaining her dad was “getting all the travelling Swifties excited about Taylor’s first show”.

At the end of the video, Mr Pillati can be seen grinning after he was given a friendship bracelet by a fan, a symbol synonymous now with Taylor Swift concerts.

Mr Pillati, who has been a Qantas cabin crew member for 23 years, said he started the singing to start the Taylor-mania.

“I’ve got three daughters and a son, they’re all mad Taylor Swift fans, and so’s my wife. I like her music too,” he said.

“During boarding I was welcoming all the fans, there were heaps on board. We were all just having a bit of banter and everyone was really excited, then just before landing we did the song.

“The fans had made a big effort travelling from Perth. It was really lovely. One of them even gave me a Swiftie friendship bracelet, which I’ll definitely keep wearing.”

Swifties have embraced a line from the song You’re on your own Kid where Taylor sings “so, make the friendship bracelets”, and now millions of fans swap bracelets at her concerts.

Qantas commented on the video saying it was “nothing less than iconic”.

One TikTok user said: “Get this man a ticket to her show asap”.

Another added the video was “so wholesome”.

However, not everyone was thrilled with the Swiftie mania.

One person wrote “I would literally try and open the door” of the plane.

Another person commented that a passenger in the video was “so glad he brought is headphones”.
