Australian Taylor Swift concert video making Americans jealous

For the second time in a week, a video from Taylor Swift’s Aussie tour is circulating on social media – and blowing American minds.

Aussie concertgoers have had a real treat over the past week: A massive tour by the world’s biggest music star – with a side order of making Americans jealous.

A time lapse video taken at Olympic Park station after Taylor Swift’s first Sydney concert on Friday night is the latest element from her Australian tour to go viral on social media, with fans in the US expressing disbelief at what they’re seeing.

The video shows hundreds of concertgoers at a time pouring onto the station platform, where they’re quickly loaded into waiting trains, which departed after the concert every few minutes to express them back into the city.

“People queue outside and are let onto the platform when there’s space. Staff at every door keep people safe. Each train arrives empty and takes nearly 2,000 people, every few minutes split between two tracks,” the Every Sydney Station Twitter account explained of the video.

One person on Twitter shared the video with the caption: “North Americans obsessed with stadium parking please take note.”

For Americans – who famously have little public transport options around many of their major event venues – the video was a glimpse into a very different reality.

“Hi North American here! Most stadiums have ZERO access to public transportation and are not walkable. You are fortunate,” one person wrote on Twitter.

“The American mind cannot comprehend this,” said another person.

“Americans in the replies panicking upon realising that their country sucks in every conceivable way,” another wrote.

“I think I want to go to Australia,” another pined.

Others pointed out that, rather than Americans being “obsessed with stadium parking,” many in fact feel stuck with it and would welcome the option to take public transport to and from stadium events.

This isn’t the first time a detail from Swift’s Australian tour has circulated among Americans online – last week, the Visit Melbourne tourism TikTok account showed some aerial footage of the Melbourne Cricket Ground, filled with fans and surrounded by both parklands and train lines.

The comment section was soon filled with questions from American fans. Well, one question in particular: Where are all the cars?

Aerial shots of several American stadiums explain the confusion: Each stadium is encircled by seemingly endless parking lots, with not a public transport option in sight.

Meanwhile, Swift will perform her final Australian Eras Tour concert in Sydney tonight. The tour’s seven shows will have seen her perform to well over half a million fans in total.

Swift’s tour then moves to Singapore for a six-show leg, before she takes a two-month break from touring. Not that she’ll be resting all that much: The break in her touring schedule coincides with the release of her eleventh studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, on April 19.
