Almost two decades after forming The Veronicas, twins Jessica and Lisa Origliasso have announced they’re both “going solo.”

The Australian music duo both spruiked their upcoming songs on their individual Instagram pages Monday morning, as they wiped their band page of all posts.

Lisa uploaded a preview to a music video for her song, called Crusin’ On My Own, which she said was dropping this Wednesday, September 7. “I’m going solo,” she announced.

Over on Jess’ Instragram page, she teased the release of the single Seeing Stars, being released on the same date - apparently under the solo moniker ‘Jessie333’.

She wrote, “ARE YOU ON MY TEAM..”

Fans went into a spin over the news as they took to Instagram to air their confusion, which the 37-year-old sisters appeared to capitalise on by reposting on their own accounts.

It’s not immediately clear if the sisters have officially split, or if they’re temporarily embarking on solo ventures.

Just last week, the pair appeared close as they filmed an ad for KVD Beauty from Sephora, suggesting there is no bad blood between the pair.

Lisa spruiked the brand’s Good Apple concealer as she used it to cover up Jess’ body tattoos, as Jess joked it was covering one of her “eighteen mistakes.”

It’s certainly been a period of change for the performers. In May, it was revealed The Veronicas had left their record label, Sony Music.

Their last album release was their fifth studio album, Human, which came out in June last year. It came just weeks after they dropped their fourth album, Godzilla, which marked their first album release in seven years.

The Brisbane duo have had an up and down two decades in the spotlight, with the pair previously becoming embroiled in a feud which saw them estranged for an entire year.

In 2019, their MTV reality show Blood is for Life followed The Veronicas reconnecting after their falling out in 2017.

Jess claimed her failed relationship with Australian actress Ruby Rose affected her bond with Lisa.

“Lis and I didn’t talk for a year. I was in a relationship that wasn’t good for me. I became isolated. I had nobody anymore, I only had my relationship,” Jess said at the time, as a news article about her and Rose flashed across the screen.

“I didn’t have my mum or my dad. When it became too much for me, I walked away.”

Lisa said she had become “the enemy” in her sister’s eyes.

“I realised I’d become the enemy in the situation, and I was ultimately … my presence and my love was making it harder for her (Jess),” she said.

“When someone goes through the kind of relationship Jess was in, it’s not like one day you wake up OK and you forget all those different things you were made to feel.”
