The Veronicas update fans on how they’re doing as they launch new talent show UNDSCVRD
Weeks after their beloved mum’s tragic death, The Veronicas are taking a tentative first step back into the spotlight.
Aussie pop duo The Veronicas take their first step back into the spotlight today following their mother’s tragic death last month.
Twin sisters Lisa and Jessica Origliasso lost their beloved mother Colleen on September 3, after a long battle with progressive supranuclear palsy.
The grieving sisters were back to work within weeks – filming new talent show UNSCSVRD, a Samsung docu-series that will premiere on TikTok today at 3pm, featuring five aspiring young artists hand-picked by the girls themselves.
Speaking to Kyle and Jackie O this morning, Lisa and Jessica filled fans in on how they’d been coping in the weeks since their mum’s death.
“She’s been our inspiration and our hero for so long, and that hasn’t changed … we got a beautiful two weeks where we got to care for her,” said Jessica. “Everything we do now, we have our angel above looking out for us, and we’re so grateful.
“It’s such a profound experience to watch someone transition into that afterlife. We’re very spiritual people, and it’s a new relationship that we’re nurturing. It’s finding new ways to love and connect with someone – we feel that so strongly; we feel her all around us.”
Fans will get more of a chance to see a lot more of The Veronicas as UNSCVRD unfolds over the coming weeks. The sisters act as industry mentors for the five young artists selected for the series, helping them as they create their own singles and accompanying music videos. And, unlike so many TV talent shows, all five contestants will maintain full ownership of their music masters and content produced.
The winner will go on to develop a five-track EP produced by James Angus, marketing and promotional support, and will also open for The Veronicas at their sold-out Melbourne concerts in January.
The five contestants taking part are self-taught Perth muso Taigh Wade, Sydney singer/songwriter Jade Stegbauer, fellow Sydney singer/songwriter Jordyn Richards, Melbourne rapper Felix ‘Checko’ Pacheco and Melbourne R&B singer Rhian Aoun.
UNDSCVRD will track their progress through the competition with updates on TikTok daily at 3pm, culminating in a live concert finale where the overall winner will also be announced.
