Jordan Ravi is set to make his major debut in the Eurovision – Australia Decides competition. And he’s had some songwriting help from a well-known band.

Musician Jordan Ravi is set to make his major stage debut on a mammoth scale, sharing his talents with the nation in the Eurovision – Australia Decides competition on Saturday.

The 20-year-old former busker from Darwin will battle it out against some of Australia’s biggest names in music, with his first and only official song.

But he’s confident he’s in for a shot – having sought songwriting help from two of last year’s contestants.

His entry – Pushing Stars – was written by last year’s Australia Decides contestants George Sheppard from Brisbane band Sheppard, and ARIA award-winner Tania Doko, formerly of 90s pop group Bachelor Girl.

“I am grateful that they put their trust in me to infuse my style and flare to their work this year!,” Ravi said of the song in December.

The song has been streamed almost 20,000 times since being released on Spotify a week ago.

“It’s a song which really addresses loneliness and feeling lost,” Ravi told the Gold Coast Bulletin of the lyrics.

While the young musician is one of the lesser-known contestants, up against the likes of Jack

Vidgen, Casey Donovan, Vanessa Amorosi and Montaigne, he has the confidence and drive to sweep the competition.

“When it comes to being on stage, I’ll leave nothing on the table,” he said of his plan of attack.

“I’m going to go hard. I’m not here to chill.”

Last year was the first Eurovision Australia Decide competition, with Kate Miller-Heidke taking out the top spot to represent Australia in Tel Aviv, Israel, coming in ninth.

This year the winner will represent the country in Rotterdam, Netherland.

Eurovision: Australia Decides will air from 7.30 to 10pm AEST on SBS on Saturday.
