Katy Perry teases racy Woman’s World music video
Close-up cleavage shots, sex toys and a pop star as blow-up doll – Katy Perry’s new music video looks wild.
Pop star Katy Perry is teasing the music video to her comeback single Woman’s World ahead of its release this Friday.
Newly-released footage from the upcoming video shows Perry looking like a glammed-up Rosie the Riveter, dancing on a construction site wearing a stars and stripes bikini top, thigh-high boots and denim cut-offs.
Rapid-fire cuts appear to show Perry using the video to promote products including a non-alcoholic beverage and a sex toy – before the teaser ends on a bizarre note, with a giant steel anvil squashing the star, Looney Tunes style.
Another brief teaser clip shared by Perry shows the star lying on her back in a bikini, her body deflated like a balloon, before she blows on her finger to reinflate herself.
Friday’s release of both the song and video comes after a weeks-long campaign from Katy to get people excited about her musical comeback.
It’s not been without controversy, though, as some have criticised Perry’s decision to work with pop producer Dr. Luke on the new track.
Fellow pop star Kesha served Dr. Luke, producer of her early hits, with a lawsuit in 2014 alleging emotional distress, sexual abuse and employment discrimination.
Dr. Luke denied all claims, and launched a counter-suit against Kesha. In 2023, the two parties announced they had finally reached a joint settlement.
Kesha dropped a comeback song of her own last week: The bouncy new single Joyride marks a return to party pop for a singer who largely shunned the dancefloor in the wake of her Dr. Luke lawsuit.
Meanwhile, Woman’s World is going to be an important release for Perry, who hasn’t released an album since 2020’s underperforming Smile.
That album was home to just one top 20 single, Never Really Over – a far cry from Perry’s peak Teenage Dream era, where she scored a record-breaking six number one US hits from the same album.
