No Time To Die: Release date and final trailer revealed
More than 18 months after it was first postponed – No Time To Die has finally got a new release date.
After several false starts, the next highly-anticipated instalment in the James Bond franchise has been given an official Australian release date.
No Time To Die is due to hit cinemas on November 11 (Covid-willing) – more than 18 months after its original release date.
The final Bond movie to star Daniel Craig as the super spy was initially scheduled for release in April 2020, but became the first blockbuster movie to be postponed as coronavirus began to sweep the globe.
The first reschedule was to November 2020 before it was moved again to April 2021. Prior to today’s announcement, it had been slated for an October release.
As global lockdowns and Covid-19 flare-ups continued to wreak havoc on the film industry, rumours began to swirl that a streaming giant like Netflix or Amazon were eyeing off a digital distribution, as has happened with plenty of other blockbusters.
However, longtime Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson reportedly remained committed to a theatrical release.
Along with the new premiere date, Universal Pictures has also dropped its final trailer for No Time To Die (watch above).
Given its lengthy limbo in publicity mode, there are remarkably few spoilers floating around about the 25th instalment in the Bond franchise.
What we do know is that the story picks up with Bond having left active service and enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica.
Unsurprisingly, that peace is short-lived, with his old CIA friend Felix Leiter showing up to ask him for help with a mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist, which sets Bond off on a mysterious trail and facing dangerous new technology.
No Time to Die is directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga and also stars Lashana Lynch, Ana de Armas, Rami Malek, Lea Seydoux, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Jeffrey Wright, Christoph Waltz and Ralph Fiennes. It was filmed in 2019.
It will premiere in Australian cinemas on November 11.
