THE first trailer for Doctor Strange has dropped, and the blockbuster is shaping up to be a lot darker and trippier than previous Marvel films.
The debut teaser trailer gives us a first glimpse at Benedict Cumberbatch in action in the role of Dr Stephen Strange, aka the Sorcerer Supreme — one of Marvel’s most powerful beings.
The movie follows the 1963 comic book story of an eminent but arrogant neurosurgeon whose career ends after a serious car crash leaving his hands permanently mangled.
On a quest to find a cure, he meets the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) and her student Karl Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) who usher him into the mind-bending world of the mystic arts to defend civilisation from evil magical threats.
The film also stars Rachel McAdams playing a surgeon.
Doctor Strange, directed by Scott Derrickson, will hit movie theatres late this year.
