Sam Neill and Frances O’Connor add star power to The Twelve Season 2 premiere in Sydney
Sam Neill and Frances O’Connor brought some Hollywood star power to the premiere of the award-winning drama The Twelve in Sydney.
Sam Neill brought some star power to the world premiere of The Twelve Season 2 in Sydney overnight.
The Jurassic Park star led the way at Sydney’s Ritz Cinema on Monday night ahead of the highly anticipated new season of the award-winning drama, which premieres on BINGE July 11.
Joining Neill in Season 2 is British-Australian actress Frances O’Connor, who adoringly walked the gold carpet hand-in-hand with the actor.
The pair play defence lawyers Brett Colby and Meredith Nelson-Moore who are defending two ex-lovers accused of murdering a local landowner.
But away from the courtroom, they are somewhat barristers with benefits.
“He’s back, the old sock,” Neill laughs in a Q&A with executive producer Alison Hurbert-Burns at the event, before hinting at the on-screen romance. “But he’s a bit more lucky this time.”
Stream The Twelve Season 1 now and Season 2 from July 11 on BINGE, available on Hubbl.
For O’Connor, the biggest drawcard was getting to return to her hometown of Perth, Western Australia, a leisurely drive from the rural township of York where filming took place.
“It was so nice getting to go home and work in the town that I grew up in and see the countryside that I visited as a kid. And the local town, it was brilliant,” said O’Connor, who is known for starring in Hollywood films including A.I. Artificial Intelligence, Mansfield Park and The Importance of Being Earnest.
Former Home And Away star Amy Mathews also stars in the series, playing Sasha Price who is accused of murdering her mother. And she said it took a lot to get into the mind of a potential killer.
“It was really great writing and a really great story that makes it a lot easier,” she told the audience. “I guess research, research, research. I know a lot more about the cattle industry in Australia that I didn’t know before. I know what it’s like to go to boarding school which I haven’t had experience in.”
“It’s just all those little things from the script that I would take and roll with just to fill out her life and give her a backstory.”
The Twelve also stars Tasma Walton, Anthony Brandon Wong, Stefanie Caccamo and Sharon Johal who make up part of the jury, while Fayssal Bazzi is also on board as the prosecutor.
The Twelve Season 2 premieres Thursday, July 11 on BINGE and is available on Hubbl, and Thursday, July 11 on Showcase at 8.30pm and available On Demand
