Chelsea Handler brutally roasts Sam Taunton on The Project
Chelsea Handler got stuck into Sam Taunton, telling him he “humiliated” himself with a cringe-worthy joke earlier in the show.
American comedian Chelsea Handler took no prisoners during her appearance on The Project, roasting one of the co-hosts over a failed joke.
Early on in Monday night’s episode, panellist Sam Taunton attempted to crack a gag about the news Margot Robbie is pregnant with her first child.
“I’ve seen the Barbie movie … it’s going to have to be a C-section,” Taunton said.
The comment was met with silence from his co-hosts.
“Do you know what I mean … about her in the Barbie movie?” he continued.
“What do you mean?” a confused Georgie Tunny replied.
“She doesn’t have a … (vagina),” Taunton explained.
The joke bombed.
Later in the episode, the show welcomed Chelsea Handler to the desk to promote her upcoming comedy tour, Little Big Bitch, and the hilarious American couldn’t help but remind Taunton of his earlier failure.
“Before you get started, I want to touch on your Barbie joke,” Handler said.
“How can you even make a joke like that when you know a comedian is coming on the show? That’s humiliating for both of us.
“I felt so bad for you,” she said.
Taunton told Handler he was hoping no one would mention his joke ever again, but the visiting comedian said she felt compelled to bring it up.
“I had to,” she said.
Georgie Tunny then stepped in and attempted to move the conversation along, asking Handler, “how do you recover from a bad joke?”
But the American fired back with one last zinger.
“I don’t know, I’ve never told one that bad,” Handler said.
Handler kicks off her tour in Melbourne on Tuesday night before heading to Brisbane and Sydney later in the week.
