AUSTRALIAN actor Nicole Kidman has turned heads on the Oscars red carpet, wearing one of the trends of the night: a nude-coloured dress.
Stars got political with their outfits, sporting blue ribbons as a show of support for the American Civil Liberties Union in the wake of President Trump’s controversial travel ban.
Supermodel Karlie Kloss, Oscar nominee Ruth Negga and best original song nominee Lin-Manuel Miranda are all wearing the ribbons.
White, nude and gold are huge trends, with Oscar nominee Emma Stone (in Givenchy), Dakota Johnson (Gucci), as well as Biel (wearing KAUFMANFRANCO) sporting metallic looks, while Lion star Kidman is striking in a skin-coloured Armani dress that kind of makes her look naked.
Hacksaw Ridge actor Teresa Palmer is stunning in a silver Prada dress and she’s marking her 31st birthday at the Oscars (as you do).
American actor Blanca Blanco is wearing a dramatic, puff-sleeved gown with a split right up to her, um, hip, which led to an embarrassing (and inevitable) wardrobe malfunction.
Blanco teamed the belted dress, which almost certainly didn’t include knickers, with goth-style strappy shoes in an early contender for worst dressed.
Former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo — though not actually an actor in any way — looks polished in a custom-made Marchesa frock.
Hollywood entertainment reporters including Louise Roe, Zuri Hall and E! presenter Ryan Seacrest also made an early entrance.
