Aussie golden couple Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have graced the red carpet in Sydney for the premiere of her new film Being the Ricardos.

Kidman, 54, is already garnering Oscars buzz for her portrayal of US comedy legend Lucille Ball in the upcoming Amazon Prime Video biopic, which earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Drama this week.

Ahead of the film’s December 21 release date, the Australian actress attended the local premiere at the Hayden Orpheum Picture Palace on Wednesday night, where she wore a $25,000 green sequined gown from Italian fashion house, Etro.

Kidman, who wore her signature strawberry blonde hair in a relaxed bun, walked the red carpet alongside her musician husband of 15 years.

The pair shared several sweet moments for the photographers, before telling reporters they were looking forward to spending Christmas down under.

“My mum (Janelle Kidman) is on the red carpet, I’m so happy for her to be able to see this,” Kidman told The Project.

“She actually ran lines with me preparing. She was saying, ‘No you need to do it again. You got that word wrong’.”

Kidman is up against a powerhouse group of actresses in the Golden Globes – which generally sets precedent for Oscars nods – including Jessica Chastain (The Eyes of Tammy Faye), Olivia Colman (The Lost Daughter), Lady Gaga (House of Gucci) and Kristen Stewart (Spencer).

But as always, Kidman is diplomatic: “We’re not up against each other, we’re all for each other,” she said.

“For us all to be working and having great roles and the opportunity to be in this together, it’s just fantastic. That’s what I love about being a woman in this industry. We’re together, as much as we’re nominated against each other, we’re together.”

New Zealand director Taika Waititi and his British pop star girlfriend Rita Ora also attended the premiere after flying into Australia earlier this month.

The duo both wore sunglasses on the red carpet, with Ora also sporting a simple black mini dress.

The loved-up couple are reportedly planning to spend Christmas and New Year’s together in Sydney, where they first met earlier this year.

They began dating in March, when Waititi was directing Thor: Love and Thunder while Ora was a coach on The Voice Australia.
