Leave it to Lady Gaga to show up on a red carpet. The pop star rocked a fittingly over-the-top gown at the premiere of her new movie in London.

Lady Gaga was the bell of the ball at the London premiere of her upcoming film, House of Gucci.

The 35-year-old US pop singer turned blockbuster actress walked the red carpet in a dramatic purple gown, fishnet stockings and gloves and her signature sky-high heels at the event, which was held at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square overnight.

Unsurprisingly, Gaga’s billowing dress was made by Gucci in line with the film’s theme.

Gaga, who is yet again garnering Oscars buzz for her second feature film, attended the premiere alongside her co-stars Adam Driver, Jared Leto and Salma Hayek.

The Stupid Love singer was nominated for Best Actress for her debut role in 2018’s A Star is Born. While she lucked out in the category, Gaga did win the Oscar for Best Original Song for Shallow.

She plays real-life figure Patrizia Reggiani in the Ridley Scott-directed biographical movie, focused on the 1995 murder of Italian fashion mogul Maurizio Gucci, played by Driver, which was orchestrated by his ex-wife, Patrizia (Gaga).

Based on the Sara Gay Forden book, The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed, the film details their tumultuous marriage and the events that led to Maurizio’s death.

And there’s already a bubbling scandal surrounding the film ahead of its release. The Gucci family has said they’re “truly disappointed” in the movie being made, accusing production of “stealing the identity of a family to make a profit”, in a group family statement to the Associated Press.

However the Italian fashion house — with which the original family is no longer involved — granted “total creative freedom” to the film’s crew and even opened its archives for use during filming.

House of Gucci will hit theatres in Australia on Boxing Day.
