Tyra Banks has revealed she has now permanently moved to Sydney, as the supermodel shared insight into her very different new life here.

Inside Tyra Banks' Aussie life

Tyra Banks has given rare insight into her low-key “day in the life” living in Australia.

The US supermodel, 51, revealed in January she had been quietly residing between Sydney and New York as she prepares to open a Darling Harbour shop for her ice-cream business, Smize & Dream.

Speaking on American talk show Today with Jenna and Friends this week, Banks confessed she had now permanently moved here, trading the bright lights of Los Angeles for a more quiet life down under with her boyfriend, Louis Bélanger-Martin, and her nine-year-old son York Banks Asla, whom she co-parents with her ex-boyfriend Erik Asla.

“I just fell in love with it. Every time I went back, and went back … and the three countries that eat the most ice cream (are) America, New Zealand and Australia. So I was like, ‘I’m happy here and they love to eat some ice cream, so, are we going to do this family?’ And we did,” the America’s Next Top Model star said.

Banks then shared a video diary of her typical day spent in Sydney, starting with a homemade coffee at 6.30am, before sharing her “favourite” spot to take her young son: Tumbalong Park.

“People come from all over Sydney to enjoy this park,” Banks said in the video.

“They have what we call a little mini water park. There’s swings and stuff for kids. There’s this new place that they’ve built for the bigger kids that you really can’t get your kid away from. So be careful when you come here.”

Banks then stopped by the 3,000-square-foot waterfront shop in Darling Harbour, where she is in the midst of building her brand’s flagship store.

“Look at the water, so amazing. And over there is where my future ice cream dream is going to come true,” Banks said.

“Making ice cream has been a lifelong dream of mine, and it’s all happening right here in Australia. This idea is a tribute to my mama, Carolyn.”

The actress-turned-entrepreneur then gave fans a glimpse at several other iconic Sydney attractions, including the Sydney Opera House and views of the harbour from the public ferry.

In January, Banks sat down for an interview with Sunrise hosts Matt Shirvington and Nat Barr, where she revealed she was one of the thousands of people to have lost their home in the Palisades fire in Los Angeles.

Banks, who has owned several properties in the affluent area, hadn’t yet shared anything about her home burning down on her social media accounts.

“I lost my house … I haven’t really talked about it, um, but yeah, I have,” Banks said.

“I just didn’t want to pull a lot of attention to me, I feel like there’s a lot of people that need that attention so I haven’t talked about it. But I can’t sit here and not tell the truth.”

The entrepreneur went on to say she was in Sydney at the time she found out, enjoying a dinner party with friends alongside her partner, Canadian businessman Louis Bélanger-Martin.

“We were at a friend’s house here and celebrating, having fun,” she began.

“I kept checking my phone, not for my house, but for my friends and family, making sure they were evacuating …

“And then I asked my partner, I said ‘I’m seeing something on my phone here’, and he said … (nods). And I just pulled it together and didn’t say anything to my friends, and just stayed in that moment. And then we went home, and we cried, and we had our moment.”
