‘Total waste of time’: Courteney Cox says getting fillers is her biggest beauty regret

Courteney Cox has opened up about her single biggest beauty regret, admitting she wouldn’t give in to the pressures of fame if she had the chance to do-over her life.

Courteney Cox admits she ‘messed up’ with fillers

Courteney Cox has shared her biggest beauty regret in a new interview.

Speaking to Woman magazine, the Friends favourite said if she could do it all over again, she would not give in to the pressures of her industry to stay youthful with the help of cosmetic procedures.

“My biggest beauty regret is fillers,” the Shining Vale actress told the publication.

“There’s so much pressure to stay looking young in this industry that once you start, it becomes a bit of a domino effect and you keep on having more.”

Cox, 59, said that many stars like herself don’t see the change a little nip and tuck does to one’s appearance and therefore falls victim to the “domino effect”.

“To the rest of the world your face is so obviously changing, but to yourself – because you’re only having one procedure at a time – you don’t notice,” she said.

“It was a total waste of time and I wish I hadn’t caved into the pressure of having it.”

In 2017, the actress – who is famous for playing Monica Gellar on Friends for 10 seasons from 1994 to 2004 – had all her fillers dissolved and has embraced ageing gracefully ever since.

“I feel better because I look like myself,” she toldNew Beauty Magazine.

“I was trying to make it not drop, but that made me look fake. I think that I now look more like the person that I was [before having fillers].”

“I’ve had to learn to embrace movement and realise that fillers are not my friend.”

Next June marks Cox’s milestone 60th birthday – an event she’s looking forward to.

“There’s nothing wrong with being 60, I just can’t believe it. Time goes so fast,” she told The Sunday Times Style last year.

“There’s no question that I am more grounded, I’ve learned so much in my life – what to enjoy, what to try to do more of, and what to let go of.”

She continued: “And I didn’t realise that, Oh sh*t, I’m actually looking really strange with injections and doing stuff to my face that I would never do now.“

Cox currently stars in Season 2 of the Starz's horror comedy series Shining Vale, which streams locally on BINGE.

In the series, Cox – who embraces her grey hair on the show – plays a romance novelist with writer’s block who moves from a Brooklyn apartment to a Victorian mansion in Connecticut with her husband Terry Phelps (played by Greg Kinnear) and two dysfunctional kids following her affair with the handyman.
