From Cougar Town to Shining Vale.

Courteney Cox is set to return for Season 2 of Starz’s horror-comedy series Shining Vale, along with co-stars Greg Kinnear and Mira Sorvino.

First look images of the upcoming season, which will air locally on Binge, were released today with the show set to premiere on the platform on October 14.

In the genre-bending series, Cox plays a romance novelist with writer’s block who moves from a Brooklyn apartment to a Victorian mansion in Connecticut with her husband Terry Phelps (played by Kinnear) and two dysfunctional kids following her affair with the handyman.

Pat soon realises that the 200-year-old house the bought for a bargain $250K was a bad idea when eerie incidents occur.

When a ghostlike entity named Rosemary (Sorvino) appears, Pat begins to think she is going crazy until they discover a triple murder-suicide and a host of other atrocities took place inside.

Season 2 picks up four months later with Pat being released from the psychiatric hospital early as her insurance runs out.

She returns home and tries to reconnect with her family but her children (played by Gus Birney and Dylan Gage) don’t want anything to do with her and Terry doesn’t appear to remember her as he continues to battle is own demons.

Adding to her dilemma, Pat’s new neighbour Ruth looks exactly like Rosemary.

Cox – who also serves as a producer on the show – is no stranger to the horror-comedy genre, having starred in the Scream franchise.

“Such a dramatic role that also was comedic was a balance that I hadn’t played in quite this way,” Cox said last year during the LA premiere. “It’s a part that I’m just not used to being able to challenge, and it got me really excited about acting again.”

“It’s really heavy issues, and they’re real,” she added. “[But] I love the comedy of it. I just love everything about this show: I love the sparring between me and Greg, and I love that it’s a half-hour – that’s just right up my alley. I have the attention span of hummingbird!”

Shining Vale Season 1 is available to stream now on BINGE. Season 2 premieres on October 14.
