Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson give fans update on coronavirus battle
Tom Hanks’ wife Rita Wilson has recorded a video that’s seriously impressed the likes of Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Aniston.
Two weeks after he was diagnosed with the coronavirus, Tom Hanks has shared an update on his health and given some advice on how we can stop the disease spreading.
And while he and wife Rita Wilson both “feel better”, she’s going a bit “stir crazy” in quarantine, posting an impressive cover of Naughty By Nature’s 1992 rap hit Hip Hop Hooray with her followers.
Wilson’s many celeb friends loved her efforts: “The best video EVER!” wrote Kim Kardashian.
“OMG I love you! Please come home!” wrote Kim’s mum, Kris Jenner.
“Yesssss R Greeky!” wrote close friend Jennifer Aniston.
Hanks and Wilson tested positive to COVID-19 on March 12. In a social media post on Monday, Hanks said they are both doing well, but warned against taking the virus lightly.
“Hey, folks. Two weeks after our first symptoms and we feel better,” he tweeted.
The actor suggested that many people aren't taking social distancing seriously, and offered some advice.
“Sheltering in place works like this: You don't give it to anyone — you don't get it from anyone. Common sense, no?” he wrote.
“Going to take a while, but if we take care of each other, help where we can, and give up some efforts … this, too, shall pass. We can figure this out. Hanx.”

Both Hanks and Wilson have kept fans updated as they battle the potentially deadly virus, with Hanks explaining the pair initially felt “a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too.”
A few days later, Hanks explained his symptoms had not worsened: “Hey folks. Good news: One week after testing positive, in self-isolation, the symptoms are much the same. No fever, but the blahs.
“Folding the laundry and doing the dishes leads to a nap on the couch. Bad news: My wife has won six straight hands of gin rummy and leads by 201 points.”
Hanks’ sister Sandra Hanks Benoiton told DailyMail.com last week: “I have communicated with my brother. He's not great, but still OK. (Am I) shocked? No. He’s an actor, not a god (but) medical care in Australia is good.”
The couple’s joint diagnosis while in Australia also caused a surprising health scare for those at Nine’s Today show, as Wilson had appeared as a guest on the program just days before her diagnosis.
The news she had coronavirus forced Today Extra hosts David Campbell and Belinda Russell into self-isolation, while Nine’s entertainment reporter Richard Wilkins later tested positive for the virus himself.
