The Stephen F. Kolzak award is presented to an LGBT media professional who has made a significant difference in promoting equality and acceptance for the community.

Previous honourers include Rose’s Orange Is The New Black co-star Laverne Cox, Chaz Bono, Melissa Etheridge, Ellen DeGeneres and Sir Ian McKellen among others.

During her introduction, Swift gushed about her Aussie mate.

“She tells the world that no one can judge us, and no one can stop us. She is a woman of many talents. She is my friend, Ruby Rose,” Swift said.

The two had time to hang out backstage as well, with the singer sharing a photo of her and Rose giving a kiss to Australian sensation Troye Sivan.
Judging by her pics to Instagram, Swift seemed pretty plumped at attending the awards.

“My first GLAAD Awards!!” she wrote. “So happy to present @rubyrose with the Stephen F Kolzak Award (and watch her make a touching, funny, and poignant speech) then we run into @troyesivan?!?! (heart emoticons) I love tonight.”

Swift and Rose are said to have been friends for a while. They rang in 2016 together in Las Vegas, and Rose was one of the first to support her friend after Kanye West released a song, in which he raps about having sex with the star. just one month later the actress joined the growing chorus of voices who were disagreeing with Kanye West’s track Famous, which raps about having sex with Taylor.

At the time, Rose took to social media, tweeting: “Too many lines crossed. If I put myself in the shoes of the women he has hurt recently.

“Victims of Bill Cosby, The Slut Shaming, Amber ... And now my dear friend Taylor.

“Right before another huge moment for her ... Can I still support him and call myself a feminist? A friend? No.”
