Christina Aguilera fan called out for planting ‘inappropriate’ kiss on pop star at autograph signing
The internet was left outraged over a fan’s ‘inappropriate’ behaviour towards Christina Aguilera during an autograph signing in Brazil.
The internet has expressed their disapproval after a fan kissed Christina Aguilera on the cheek without her consent during an autograph signing in Brazil.
The American pop star was greeting waiting fans outside the Copacabana Palace Hotel in Rio de Janeiro when a male fan quickly planted one on her cheek, in footage obtained by entertainment site Pop Crave.
Wearing a fedora hat and black singlet, the excited fan put an arm around the 44-year-old singer as he kissed her on the left cheek before her security guard pushed him away.
As he tried to get close once again and take another selfie, Aguilera calmly said, “I gotta get to the airport, guys. Muah, muah, muah,” before being led away by her security team.
The incident has caused social media to erupt, with many calling out the man’s behaviour.
“Personal space and consent matter … no one should ever cross those boundaries, no matter the setting. It was unethical,” one user tweeted on X, while another wrote that the “man went too far”.
“That’s inappropriate,” echoed another, as one commented, “Do people forget celebrities are humans too?”
Other users praised Aguilera for remaining calm during the interaction.
“She’s such a queen for not reacting and getting all mad,” one fan tweeted, as another agreed: “She responded well. But he should have not done that.”
“This is not okay. Personal boundaries must always be respected, no matter who you are. Sending love to Christina,” one wrote, with another adding, “That’s so scary and overwhelming, hope she’s okay.”
However, other users saw no harm in the encounter, arguing the fan was just excited to see the pop star.
“Some fan gave a peck … relax,” tweeted one user, as another wrote, “This looks like a foreign country, and most countries just get down like that. Christina knows she’s ‘Christina Aguilera’ and some stuff is gonna happen with fans. Not trying to defend or justify him, but he wasn’t trying to be inappropriate.”
While Aguilera has yet to address the incident directly, she did thank all her Brazilian fans who watched her perform.
“Rio!!!!! thank you for all the love you showed me during my visit to your beautiful city!” she wrote on Instagram alongside behind-the-scenes photos of her visit.
“Our reunion was long overdue, and you made it so special.
“Thank you for the letters, sweet messages, and waiting HOURS outside the hotel for me. Your passion and spirit are unforgettable. This will stay with me forever.”
