Ryan Gosling is temporarily moving Down Under.

The Canadian actor, 41, is starring in a new movie, The Fall Guy, expected to be shot in both Sydney and rural NSW later this year.

The film is based on the action television series of the same name which ran from 1981 to 1986. It follows a Hollywood stuntman, Colt Seavers, who doubles as a bounty hunter.

The major production will receive a $30 million grant from the federal government and up to $14.5 million from the NSW government.

The production is expected to inject more than $244 million into the Australian economy, according to Communications Minister Paul Fletcher.

“We are pleased to welcome The Fall Guy down under with $30 million in support from our highly successful Location Incentive, with the production to employ over 1000 Australian cast and crew, and more than 3015 Australian extras,” he said in a statement.

Universal will be producing the film, after the studio won a fierce bidding war for the project last year, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Universal also brought romantic-comedy Ticket to Paradise, starring Julia Roberts and George Clooney, to Queensland late last year.

The production filmed in the Whitsundays, Gold Coast and Brisbane, and also received a $6.4 million grant from the federal government’s Location Incentive Program.

“After a successful partnership on the studio’s production of Ticket to Paradise in Queensland, Universal is thrilled to return to Australia and base in New South Wales for the highly-anticipated film, The Fall Guy,” Universal Pictures’ president of physical production Jeff LaPlante said.

“The filmmakers and the Universal team are looking forward to working alongside the talented local crews to make this project a reality.”

NSW Arts Minister Ben Franklin said the production would get up to $14.5 million in support through the Made in NSW fund.

Reports out of Los Angeles said David Leitch of Deadpool, John Wick and Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw fame would direct The Fall Guy, and filming would begin in August.

Gosling is married to actor and model Eva Mendes, and the couple share two young daughters, Esmeralda and Amada. Perhaps, they might also take a trip down under during filming.
