WHAT WILL MEGHAN AND HARRY SAY?

In teaser clips released by CBS, Markle calls the Royal family “the firm”.

“How do you feel about the Palace hearing you speak your truth today?” Oprah asks Meghan.

“I don’t know how they could expect that after all of this time we would still just be silent when there is an active role that the Firm is playing in perpetuating falsehoods about us,” she responds.

“And if that comes with risk of losing things … there’s a lot that’s been lost already.”

Two previously released clips both showed Meghan remaining silent, while Winfrey and Prince Harry spoke.

“Were you silent, or were you silenced?” Winfrey asked Meghan probingly in one clip.

Harry appeared to attack his father and the royal family in another clip, alleging they’d not done enough to protect his late mother Princess Diana.

“You know, for me, I’m just really relieved and happy to be sitting here talking to you with my wife by my side because I can’t begin to imagine what it must have been like for her (Princess Diana) going through this process by herself all those years ago,” he said.

“Because it has been unbelievably tough for the two of us, but at least we had each other.”

INTERVIEW COINCIDES WITH ROYAL WAR

The interview will air amid new allegations that Meghan bullied Palace aides after she was married to Prince Harry.

A report from the Times of London revealed the Duchess of Sussex had been the subject of an official bullying complaint in 2018. The complaint alleged Meghan had mistreated her staff, and had on occasion reduced aides to tears. One staffer said she felt Meghan was “cruel”.

The Queen has launched a probe into the allegations.

Buckingham Palace released a statement following the report from The Times, saying: “We are clearly very concerned about allegations in the Times following claims made by former staff.

“Accordingly our HR team will look into the circumstances outlined in the article.

“Staff involved at the time, including those who have left the Household, will be invited to participate to see if lessons can be learned.

“The Royal Household has had a Dignity at Work policy in place for a number of years and does not and will not tolerate bullying or harassment in the workplace.”

Lawyers representing Meghan and Prince Harry told The Times of London the newspaper was “being used by Buckingham Palace to peddle a wholly false narrative”.

“Let’s just call this what it is: a calculated smear campaign based on misleading and harmful misinformation,” a spokesman for the couple added in a statement.

CALLS FOR INTERVIEW TO BE CANCELLED

As the speculation over the interview intensified, Prince Philip, 99, who has been in hospital for 16 days, underwent heart surgery.

The Duke of Edinburgh was transferred to St Bartholomew’s in London on Monday where he will stay until at least the end of the week. His frail condition prompted calls for Harry and Meghan to delay the release of the interview.

Senior royal sources said the family was “pretty appalled” at the idea of the explosive interview going ahead while the Duke recovers in hospital.

CLUES IN HARRY’S LATE SHOW APPEARANCE

In a recent appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Prince Harry candidly said he stepped back from senior royal duties because the UK press was “toxic” and was “destroying” his mental health.

“It was never walking away, it was stepping back rather than stepping down,” Prince Harry said, adding he felt like any father would do the same.

“It was a really difficult environment as I think a lot of people saw. We all know what the British press can be like and it was destroying my mental health, I was like, this is toxic.

“I did what any husband and what any father would do, is like ‘I need to get my family out of here.

“But we never walked away, and as far as I’m concerned — whatever decisions are made on that side — I will never walk away. I will always be contributing. My life is public service so wherever I am in the world, it’s always going to be the same thing.”

Harry also made the admission that he watches The Crown.

He said he thinks it’s a more fair portrayal of his family than the UK press, because it “does not pretend to be news”.
