Princess Eugenie stuns in dress by UK designers Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos

PRINCESS Eugenie arrived at her wedding to Jack Brooksbank looking absolutely breathtaking in a gown by British designer, Peter Pilotto.

PRINCESS Eugenie looked stunning as she arrived at her wedding to Jack Brooksbank, dressed in a gown created by designers Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos, who founded British-based label Peter Pilotto.

Buckingham Palace said Princess Eugenie first met the designers when she was co-hosting an event in support of women artists.

The low back feature on the dress was reportedly at the specific request of Princess Eugenie, who had surgery at the age of 12 to correct scoliosis.

It was a moment of total sartorial triumph for the 28-year-old royal, who has unfortunately been the target of plenty of criticism and ridicule in the past for her fashion choices.

The fabric of her dress featured a number of significant symbols, including a thistle for Scotland, in a nod to the couple’s love of Balmoral, a shamrock for Ireland in honour of Eugenie’s mother’s family, and the York Rose and ivy, representing their home.

The symbols were all made into a jacquard weave, creating a unique fabric.

Eugenie chose to wear the Greville Emerald Kokoshnik Tiara, lent to her by her grandmother, the Queen of England.

The tiara was made by Boucheron for Mrs Greville in 1919, and features rose cut diamonds set in platinum, with six emeralds on either side. Eugenie paired the beautiful headpiece with diamond and emerald earrings, which were a wedding gift from the groom, Jack Brooksbank.

The couple looked radiant as they met at the end of the aisle.

Like most brides, Eugenie has been focused on looking her best ahead of the big day, and it’s clear she’s lost weight in recent months. She stepped out in London earlier this week wearing a blue dress with a cinched waist, which highlighted a noticeably slimmer figure than she’s had in the past.

Just five months ago, Meghan Markle showcased her wedding dress in the very same spot as Eugenie - outside St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle - while her soon-to-be husband Prince Harry waited inside.

Meghan looked stunning in the Givenchy gown, designed by British designer Clare Waight Keller, which was chosen for its “timeless and elegant aesthetic, impeccable tailoring, and relaxed demeanour”, according to Kensington Palace.

It came with a price tag of an estimated £200,000 (A$358,000).

Back in 2011, Kate Middleton wore a love-sleeve lace, ivory and satin gown with a V-neckline for her wedding to Prince William.

The dress - designed by Alexander McQueen creative director Sarah Burton - was estimated to have cost around £250,000 (A$448,000).

While Eugenie’s mother Sarah Ferguson’s wedding gown may be a little cringe these days, it was considered hugely stylish at the time (it was the ‘80s) and deemed a triumph by many fashion critics.

In fact, it was so popular that shops started displaying replicas of Fergie’s within two hours.

Rather than borrow a tiara from the royal archive, as most royal brides do, Fergie unveiled a brand new tiara on her wedding day, which was a gift from the Queen and Prince Philip.

The York Diamond Demi-Parure tiara is made entirely out of diamonds, and is set in platinum, with a large 5-carat diamond on top.
