Meghan Markle gave an emotional tribute to Prince Harry at the royal reception
NEW details have emerged about the heartwarming speech Meghan gave at the royal wedding reception, and her words for Prince Harry.
WE thought all details of the royal wedding had been dissected and analysed, however, we’re only now learning of the touching speech Meghan gave at the evening reception.
The event, which took place at Frogmore House and was hosted by Prince Charles, was an incredibly intimate affair with only 200 of the royal couple’s closest friends and family.
It is tradition for the bride’s father to say a few words on behalf of his daughter. But, as we know, Meghan is not one for tradition and so stepped in to deliver her own speech as her father, Thomas Markle, was too ill to attend the wedding.
According to royal commentator Katie Nicholl, the speech she gave was an emotional tribute to Prince Harry, the royal family and her mother, Doria Ragland.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Nicholl said Meghan “wanted to have the chance to say, in person, a very big thank you to the royal family, which is exactly what she did.”
She had particularly affectionate things to say about her new husband, finishing her speech by declaring, “I finally found my prince.”
Markle is incredibly close to her mother, and Nicholl said that, “I do know that she thanked her mother, not just for being there today, but for being there for her entire life.”
It’s unclear if she made mention about her father, who was embroiled in a paparazzi controversy in the lead-up to the wedding before falling ill.
Prince Harry also paid tribute to Meghan in an “off-the-cuff” speech, where he said they were “a great team” and commended Meghan for being able to survive the controversy around the wedding saying she “navigated everything with such grace”.
The two newlyweds made their first public appearance as a married couple days after their wedding at Prince Charles’ 70th birthday celebrations.
