Queen ‘likes Meghan’ but she brought ‘too much Hollywood entitlement with her’ when she married Prince Harry
The Queen ‘likes Meghan’, according to a royal watcher. But there’s one thing about the Duchess that irritated Her Majesty.
- Huge stakes of Harry, Meghan’s royal tour

- ‘Markle Effect’ has Aussie denim brand on fast track
The Queen “likes” Meghan Duchess of Sussex, says a royal author who has lunched with Her Majesty.
According to David Starkey, the monarch is a fan of Meghan, but warns she brought “too much Hollywood entitlement” with her when she married Prince Harry, according to The Sun.
Speaking at a London launch party for the book Crusaders, by historian Dan Jones, the well-respected TV star, 74, opened up about the Queen’s warm reception to the her grandson’s 38-year-old wife.
“The Queen likes Meghan,” Starkey told the Daily Mail, pointing out that she eagerly made the couple ambassadors for the Commonwealth shortly before their May 2018 wedding.
However, he doesn’t feel that Meghan — mum of four-month-old Archie — has fitted right into the royal family, even with the monarch’s blessing.
“The problem is she has brought too much Hollywood entitlement with her,” the royal expert — who once had lunch with Her Majesty — added.
“But her hypocrisy is just the same as any other member of the Hollywood elite: they all proclaim their eco-sensitivity while flying their private jets.
“But she gets skewered — they, on the whole, don’t. She is the ‘woke’ member of the family.”
Earlier this year, Meghan and Harry came under fire for taking private jets despite speaking out about the environment.
They were also criticised for not announcing the location of where Archie would be born or who his godparents are — and were also revealed to have spent AU$4.4m of taxpayers’ cash refurbishing Frogmore Cottage.
However, the Duchess’ recent fashion collection for charity Smart Works was well-received.
And her upcoming tour to Africa with Harry is seen as an opportunity for them to win back over the public.
Meghan is due to speak out on “gender violence” while in South Africa.
She is currently in Rome with Harry celebrating the wedding of fashion designer friend Misha Nonoo.
