Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis’ stunning similarities to grandparents at coronation

Royal watchers experienced a sense of deja vu at the King’s coronation, remarking on the striking similarity to photos taken 70 years ago.

Royalists are obsessing over the striking resemblance between the royal Cambridge children and their grandparents, in photos captured decades apart.

In light of the coronation of King Charles III, images have resurfaced of His Majesty as a young boy attending his mother’s – the late Queen Elizabeth II – coronation.

The pictures, which were taken 70 years ago, feature the former prince standing next to his mother for the iconic post-coronation balcony moment.

The then four-year-old is snapped pointing at what is assumed to be the coronation flypast which saw more than 600 aircrafts light up the sky.

Another photo shows the then-young prince standing alongside his then two-year-old sister Princess Anne, with the pair joining their mother in waving at the crowd.

Meanwhile, a third photo captured His Majesty as a young child looking bored at the event, as he held his fist to his face.

While these three images capture King Charles and Princess Anne’s evolution in the monarchy, it’s the similarities their younger selves share with their Cambridge grandkids that have royalists talking.

Several photos of Prince Louis at King Charles’ coronation show the young royal almost mimicking his grandfather’s childhood actions.

As the King’s much smaller flypast – which consisted of the Red Arrows and some helicopters due to the weather – lit up the sky, Prince Louise was snapped pointing at the spectacle as the Princess of Wales and Prince William watched on in awe.

Meanwhile a video of Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis waving was also filmed, with fans of the monarchy comparing this event with that of their grandfather and aunty at Queen Elizabeth’s coronation.

“Five-year-old Prince Louis looked as bored at King Charles’ coronation as his grandfather had when Queen Elizabthe was crowned” one royal enthusiast tweeted.

“Another iconic balcony appearance for Prince Louis,” a second comment read.

Prince Louis wasn’t the only grandchild being compared to an older royal, with royalists also highlighting the resemblance Princess Charlotte shares with Diana’s younger self.

Fans of the monarchy have shared several photos of the 8-year-old princess dressed in her white coronation Alexander McQueen dress, cape and Mary Jane shoes online, alongside images of Prince William’s mum as a young girl.

“(Princess Charlotte’s) smile reminded me of her granny Princess Diana (sic), she had the same shy smile,” one royal enthusiast tweeted alongside a photo of a young Diana holding a guinea pig.

“God bless our little princess and future Princess Royal.”

Another royalist commented that Princess Charlotte shares her deceased grandmother’s renowned “diana-stare”.

“Princess Charlotte with her best Diana gaze at the coronation today,” a third person said.

Another comment read: “Princess Charlotte (looks) much like her late grandmother Princess Diana (sic). Prince William has passed his mother’s genes onto his daughter”.

It’s not the first time royal watchers have compared younger members of the royal family with their elders.

In July last year, a photo snapped at Prince George’s Wimbledon debut almost duplicated a similar photo taken at Prince William’s debut at the event in 1991.

Diana, in a patterned purple shirt, was captured pointing towards the court as a young William leaned in – with the pair watching the ladies final as German Stefanie Graf defeated Argentinian Gabriela Sabatini.

Just over thirty years on, Prince William, who is now a frequent attendee of the grand slam tournament, was seen posing in a similar position with George as they looked out towards the court.

More than 1000 social media users have reacted to a post revealing the astonishingly similar photos.

“Lucky Prince George. William actually looks like his beautiful mother a lot,” one Twitter user posted.

“Two future kings,” wrote another.
