Awkward moment Katy Perry appears lost, before later tripping at coronation

The pop star poked fun at herself on social media after a couple of funny coronation mishaps were caught on camera.

Katy Perry may have looked poised in purple at King Charles III’s coronation, but her stunning presence didn’t come without a few humble mishaps.

The American singer was spotted looking a little lost inside London’s Westminster Abbey as she struggled to find her seat before the historic ceremony began.

At one point, Perry – who wore head-to-toe Vivienne Westwood – was overheard asking fellow guests, “Is that seat free?”

She later wrote on Twitter, “Don’t worry guys I found my seat.”

But it was a subtle trip following the event that topped off a largely eventful day for the performer who appeared to lose her footing while leaving the ceremony.

A photographer snapped Perry trying to regain her balance after the unsteady moment, which took place in front of a crowd of departing coronation attendees.

Fortunately, she was quickly forgiven by fans who spotted the image online, with some blaming the rain and wet floor for Perry’s small misfortune.

“You are the biggest event of this coronation,” one fan page commented alongside the photo.

The same can’t be said for her seating incident though, with Twitter having a field day over footage of Perry trying to find her way at the event, with many believing it was her oversized, netted fascinator obstructing her seating view.

“She can’t see over her bloody hat,” one user tweeted, while another wrote: “the way she’s trying to look for her seat with that hat, it’s adorable and funny at the same time.”

Yet another user joked: “me as a kid going aisle to aisle after getting lost in the grocery store.”

The singer’s choice of designer and lavender colour for her outfit was no coincidence. Westwood is a renowned British designer and purple hues are historically linked with royalty.

No doubt all eyes will be on Perry’s outfit again when she takes to the stage to perform at the coronation concert held on the grounds of Windsor Castle. Perry will perform alongside the likes of Lionel Richie and Andrea Bocelli – and she can’t wait.

“I am excited to be performing at the coronation concert and helping to shine a further light on the British Asian Trust’s Children’s Protection Fund, whose work includes on-ground initiatives to fundraising, with the aim to find solutions to child trafficking,” she said in a statement last month.

Perry and then-Prince Charles connected after meeting in Mumbai back in 2019 and the following year the royal appointed her an ambassador for the British Asian Trust, a non-profit organisation he co-founded to tackle poverty and hardship in South Asia.
