Official photograph released of Charles, Camilla, William and Kate: the new ‘Fab Four’

A previously-unseen family photograph taken the night before the Queen’s funeral has just been released – and it heralds the start of a very new era.

King Charles may change 'stand-in rules' to freeze out Princes Harry and Andrew

A new portrait has been released showing the future of the monarchy, taken the evening before the Queen’s state funeral.

In the official image, King Charles III is seen posing with his wife, Camilla, the Queen Consort, and Prince William and Kate Middleton, the newly-minted Princess of Wales.

All four royals were dressed in black to mark the mourning period for the late monarch.

It was taken at Buckingham Palace during an official event for heads of state and foreign guests, who had travelled to London for Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral at Westminster Abbey.

The photograph heralds the start of a new “Fab Four”, the moniker initially given to Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge upon Meghan’s entry into the royal family, with the new King understood to be keen on slimming-down the monarchy.

The image of just himself, his heir, and their wives certainly appears to be designed to promote that message.

The Buckingham Palace event sparked plenty of controversy, with contradicting reports emerging about whether or not former frontline royals Harry and Meghan would be attending.

Days earlier, it had been reported that the Duke and Duchess had received an invitation to attend – which was then reportedly disputed by palace aides, who insisted the event was for “working royals only”.

According to Page Six, the couple learned they were uninvited from the pre-funeral reception through media reports, and were left “baffled” by the snub.

“Harry and Meghan actually got the invitation and no one has actually told them they are uninvited,” the source told the outlet at the time.

“I’m told they only found out they were uninvited by reading press reports.”
